The case study

The insight

Gen Z craves luxury and believes it should be within reach — but sees it as expensive and unsustainable. 52% hesitate on sustainable choices because of cost. The opportunity was not to sell rental; it was to make rental feel like taste rather than a compromise.

Consumer research

  • 70% follow designer brands while 82% are students — high aspiration, limited budget.
  • 60% own a few luxury items, 25% shop secondhand, and nobody had rented yet.
  • 40% would rent statement outfits and 20% bags; 27% are uninterested, which reads as an education gap rather than a dead end.
  • Main barriers: damage (43%), hygiene (18%) and platform trust (14%) — answered with condition photos, cleanliness guarantees, insurance and reviews.
  • Instagram, Pinterest and TikTok drive discovery; friends and influencers shape the final choice.

Media strategy

  • Storytelling — founder stories and one-minute reels of real renters explaining why they rent.
  • Education — “Why renting beats buying” carousels, a cost-per-wear versus rental calculator, polls and 15–30s micro-education videos on trending sounds.
  • Product focus — weekly edits, “one bag styled three ways” films and micro-influencer unboxings, in a clean home-plus-street visual language.
  • UGC — the “One bag, three ways” challenge, an ambassador programme and giveaways that turn renters into role models for conscious luxury.

Tone of voice

“Messy but well spoken” — honest and unfiltered, yet intelligently expressed. Transparent about values and pricing, elevated without being loud, confident enough not to chase trends, iconic in its statements and softly rebellious.

Activation & measurement

  • A cross-post with @viewsfrance to build awareness and route traffic to the website, with an estimated minimum of 500K impressions.
  • An Instagram broadcast channel for exclusive messages, early access and a sense of belonging.
  • KPIs mapped per objective: saves and shares for engagement, story sticker taps for education, subscription sign-ups for product value, hashtag and UGC volume for community.
  • A one-month content calendar plus a full production and media budget totalling €9,850.

Expansion

We recommended Switzerland and Belgium first — francophone markets with comparable consumer behaviour and appetite for both luxury and sustainability — followed by Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and Germany.

“Working with a real client in Paris taught me how fast research becomes creative direction. Every line of the campaign traced back to something a consumer actually told us.”
